Sri Lanka
September ’26
Five people in one Tuk Tuk.
It doesn’t quite fit… but somehow, it does. With all our luggage strapped on top. Hoppa! Except when it rained, luckily only twice.
From Trincomalee, along the coast to Arugam Bay, over sandy off-road tracks and sometimes straight onto the beach. Then inland, climbing higher and higher towards Ella.
Rolling hills, winding mountain roads, first gear and endless tea fields in the Highlands.
After our beautiful train ride, we jumped back into our little three-wheeler and continued to Kandy.
And the buses? They keep you very awake!
📍Sri Lanka by Tuk Tuk.
A little wild, a little cramped and absolutely unforgettable.
❗️If you’re planning to do the same, get your International Driving Permit in NL at the ANWB. Make sure you get IRB model 1949 for Sri Lanka. Bring your Dutch driving licence too and arrange your local Recognition Permit in Sri Lanka for the Tuk Tuk.
Then, just have fun and enjoy the ride!
